What I'm Loving Wednesdays

For the past three days I have been in Salt Lake City, Utah for an internship interview with Goldman Sachs, more about that in a later post. But I thought it fitting to dedicate my What I'm Loving to things I love about this place.

  1. Red Rock Steak Salad. I know that sounds like the weirdest thing but it amazing. I literally came up here just to be sure I could eat one. I would have been happy just having one, and I would have done anything to get to Red Rock as well. But as fate would have it the hotel I was put in happened to be located one block over from one of the only two locations! So naturally I walked there both nights. Got the same meal, a steak salad and carrot cake with a side of extra frosting, both times. And do not regret a bite!! I sat at the bar both times and the second night, randomly two men sat on each side of me and asked what was good and I told them, and I explained my little story. And they both ended up ordering one. I feel so accomplished. I am going to end my obsession here, because this is already ridiculously long for a post about a salad and I know I could go much longer.

  2. Our Ranch House: My parents bought this house on somewhat of a whim. For what it is, and what it is worth right now it was a huge steal. We bought it mostly for the land, the house is suppose to be a fixer upper and besides tearing down the barn and guest house, we haven't done a thing! We have been so busy and with the economy, the timing is just so crazy. I love this house because honestly my best summer was spent in it. We had a party in it got busted by the cops, and while that may seem like a horrible memory, almost 3 years later, we still talk about it. It was my first summer in PC and talk about making a name for my self. It was also the summer I met CLS, thats a story in its self. And why nothing was very eventful that summer, I can never look back on that summer without remembering good times. I love every summer (okay expect for one) memory. That summer changed me more then anything and it was a huge turning point. But I guess this house means more to me then just that summer, I love the winters and summers, and every thing this house reminds me of. It also has the most amazing view of the mountains.

  3. Main Street: PC's Main street is a typical small town Main Street. 4th of July parades, bars, restaurants, shops etc. But I do love spending the day wondering up and down. Plus amazing people watching during Sundance.

  4. Park City Racquet Club: Without this place that summer would never have happened, I never would have met CLS, and I dont think I would love PC without what it gave me. And to think my mom practically forced me to teach lessons that summer. Thanks mom?

So Close to Break

I did this for the first week in February and it helped SO much. The I got so busy and didnt put in the time it takes, about 10 minuets, to plan out my week. And surprise my weeks were such disasters.

The best part about having these schedules is the fact that it is written out in front of me. I can see what I need to accomplish and actually get it done. It also allows me to look up my schedule from anywhere, in case God forbid I without my Lily planner.

This week is my last week until SPRING BREAK!!

Originally I was going to Vegas and then home, then I was not going to Vegas and I was just going home. NOW I am going home, going to Vegas and then going home again. I am going home because I told CLS I would, and now he seems genuinely excited and as much as I dont want to spend the extra time and money to go home twice (as well as the perk of actually being able to hurt him for ONCE), I know I will regret it if I do not go.

So with all the traveling, and adventures, and checking in at the office where I will be interning this summer, Spring Break does not seem to look relaxing!

Heres to getting through these last few days, and all the adventures and memories Spring Break has to offer!

Dating

I am sorry but I think "dating" these days SUCKS. People no longer "date" or get to know each other. The majority of relationships these days start after a month or two of hooking up and hanging out drunk.

People rarely met, go out to dinner, talk, do things and then start to date. I am sorry but I think that sucks.

By no means do I expect that I am going to marry someone I have met at school but even so you never know how things will play out. And I do not want to tell my children that I met their father while I was wasted one night, we made out in a bar and then started sleeping together and eventually hung out one and one.

I dont want to tell my kids I did that ever.

I am not even sure how to define date anymore.

Is it a date if its just the two of you doing something? Or does the boy have to ask you out, drive and pay? And the rest is just "hanging out?"

Either way, whatever me and CLS have been doing, prior present and future, I am officially saying we went on our first real date.

He asked me.
Took me to dinner.
Drove.
Choose.
Paid.

By no means am I saying that what we were doing before were not "date" (I am leaving that up to his discretion).

In our friendship (sorry I refuse to say relationship) I always pick where we go, what we do, when we do it etc. And I am not saying it because he doesn't want to, I just do it because I am controlling and Type A while he is much more relaxed and go with the flow.

It was so much more exciting to let him be in charge. He picked this amazing restaurant, I cant remember the name but I have the card (yes I am cheesy and keep something from everything we do together). It wasn't some chain, big name standard default place.

He either looked it up or heard about it from someone else. It was a perfect date place, the lighting, the mood, everything. And it wasn't like a "romantic" place. Which I really appreciate. I don't do romantic.

He also ordered wine. What is this? Are we really growing up where we go to dinner, on a date, to a cute downtown chic restaurant and get wine with our meal? I could get use to this.

Oh and he didnt order wine, he got sangria. I don't know if he just thought I would like it, or if I told him about my recent love of it but he definitely got major points for that. I wasn't even going to drink!

We got these appetizers, bacon wrapped octopuses. Amazing.

At the end of the night I offered to split the bill with him, because I know that he actually works while I just get money given to me. But he paid. The whole thing, didnt even let me try to offer.

So I guess my point of this rant is that dating these days blows. It is so difficult to actually get a boy to take you on one, no matter how much they like you.

I think we need to bring first dates back, and get rid of first drunken hook ups.

What I'm Loving Wednesdays

I have been using BareMinerals foundation for a few months and I love it. Can not use anything else anymore. If you do not already have it, go get some! But I forgot eye shadow this weekend while I was at home and even though I do not always wear eye shadow, only special occasions, dinner with CLS is definitely considered a very important special time. I have been wanting BM eye shadow and Nordstrom was having a sale over christmas I totally regret getting, but I finally got a pink color, and it is the best! BM will soon be the only thing in my make up bag.
Sour Patch Watermelon. My favorite favorite candy! They actually had them at the movies this weekend and it made me so happy!
The NPR app. On my very long drive home from school this past weekend I got so sick of listening to my music and I really do love listing to NPR in the mornings. So while in the middle of nowhere I figured they must have NPR. And the iphone has an app for it! You can either listen through your iphone/ipod or it will find the local station for it. It kept me sane on my drive, I will never go with out it!
Tory Burch Flats. Yes I know these are not anything new, but after a lot of drama (I tried to order the suede ones off line, and almost got ripped off) I finally purchased my first pair. I love them, they go with everything and will be perfect for the office this summer. Next I want nude/tan ones!
My crystal ZGallerie mouse. I am not sure if they sell them anymore but it makes my homework so much more enjoyable. I am trying to ONLY go on my computer at my desk so that I am more productive (no more laying in bed and being lazy!). And when I work at my desk I get to use my mouse. I lost it once before and luckly ZG had them on sale when I had to get my other one!

Getting things together

I think it is safe to say that this tends to be a very accurate description of every college kids life and study habits. But I am vowing here and now to no have my life be like. Especially on the night before a test at 7 pm.

The calendars I made last week helped a tremendous amount so they will be staying! I get things done on the day I say as opposed to making a list of things to do for the week and pushing everything off to Sunday night. Not fun.

I had two test this week and was stressed out and studying for hours straight and I hated it. One of my New Years resolutions was to keep up with my readings for class as opposed to reading them all the night before (as I did) and it is not okay.

  1. I will stop procrastinating, there are syllabuses for a reason
  2. I will not sleep past 9 (maybe expect for sunday)
  3. I will go to morning practice no matter what time I went to bed the night before
  4. I will go to the gym 6 days a week, if I have "too much to do" that is my own fault due to procrastination and it is not a good excuses.
  5. I will fold and put away laundry right away
  6. I will make my bed each morning
  7. I will not go to bed with a messy room, things on my floor or a cluttered desk
  8. I will focus on the positives
  9. I will work on friendships that benefit me, not just have friends to have more friends
  10. I will read my alloted 20-30 minuets a day
  11. I will get dressed for class, not just wear norts and ts
  12. I will not spend so much time in my room, I will go outside, to a cafe, a bookstore, anywhere but laying in bed all day vegging.

What I'm Loving Wednesdays

Words With Friends. I made CLS start playing with me, and yes he is definitely more intelligent then me, he takes for ever to play back and I have also decided who ever goes first is so important! I am also a very bad speller in general so I am not too good. But I love playing!
I lost my green pencil. I have had it all through out college. I had to by a new one, and its actually a really cool purple. These are the best pencils in the world. I can not use any other kind.

Decision Points. I started reading this last week and I absolutely love it. I dont care if you liked Bush or not, it is a great book about our country and how things happened from the point of view of someone in power. And I am not ashamed at all to say I balled the entire 9/11 chapter.
Sherrie Berries. My dad sends these to me every Valentines. I love them. I usually try to make them last at least a week but I think I am going to finish them tonight. They have more then just strawberries and gifts for every occasion. They are having a promotion for Susan G Koman for the cure, check it out, they are even discounted! such a great price.

February 14-20

Since each week I have different things to accomplish I will write out what I need to do that day, what is due that day and other notes and thoughts.

This way at the beginning of each week I can budge my time and get things done hopefully before the day/night before!

Weekly Schedule

I have been extremely bad about having my life together this semester and with exams and projects starting up I need to make a change and quick!

The best way for me to stay on top of things is to schedule everything out, I am very Type A. I also am very visual so I have planned each day and created this so I see it every day. Now I know what each day has in store and what I need to accomplish.

Now of course each week will have different things but this is just my general day-to-day to do list. I hope that it helps me become more productive.

What I'm Loving Wednesdays

1. Theory Sweater Dresses. I love this look on other people but I haven't been able to find any that look good on me. This past weekend I found one a Theory and love it! I bought one in black and one in charcoal. They are great to dress up with heals, or casual with tennis shoes, sandals, or flats! They are wonderful staple items.
2. Paul Mitchell Skinny Serum. I have had this bottle for about a year now and haven't run out, and I use it ALL the time! But this past weekend I left my entire bag at home so I have been without it and realized how much it helps my hair. I cant wait to get it back.
3. Green tea lemonade. I have decided to make my own because Starbucks is such a treck onto campus from where I have my classes. I brew green tea and store it in Mason jars (of course) and then simply add a packet of instant lemonade (liek the crystal light ones) when I am read and drink it straight from the jar. Makes me so excited for spring!
4. Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese. I have always been a fan of grilled cheese but recently, after Trader Joe's had it on sample, I love tomato soup. They are wonderful together (as I am sure everyone already knows) and are great since I haven't been feeling well.
5. My heart rate monitor. I have been wearing one of these for about 3 years now, just because my parents wanted to know info about how intense my work outs were. But as I have been going longer and harder I have been so reliant on it to tell me how long I work out, how hard and how many calories. I went a day with out it last week and realized how much I need it. It makes me reliable to my self to push my self and to see my progress. I am honestly not sure how people workout without them because I felt like I was just running in circles with no purpose.

Whats In My School Bag

Whats In My School Bag

  1. 5 Star Notebooks. Over the years I have grown to adore these. They are simple and perfect size for my classes and taking notes.
  2. Headphones. In case I end up at the library.
  3. My iPhone. I never go anywhere with out it.
  4. My Lilly planner. It is my world. I am completely lost without it. It has my entire life/schedule in it.
  5. My Lilly or Starbucks tumblr. Lilly has yet to come out with a cold tumblr, so I have settled for Starbucks, and yes the christmas one! It makes me happier. I am dependent on coffee and ice tea so I always have it with me at school.
  6. My pen bag. Mine is actually a jcrew one and it keeps all my pens, pencils, postits, advil, highlighters, calculates, clickers etc. Anything I need for school. It is my savior.
  7. Staedtler pens. I didnt get these till last semester, but my friends have been using them for years. The are perfect for my obsessive color coordination of everything from my notes to my planner and I swear they make my handwriting better.
  8. My brown Longchamp. Perfect school bag, just perfect bag all around. It fits everything I need and so durable.
  9. Emergen C. I always have one or two in my bag for days I am just not feeling well. Add them to OJ and they are a perfect savior. especially for the morning after a long night.
  10. My keys. And my favorite Coach whale keychain.
  11. My wallet. I love my wallet. It is perfect for everything I need.
  12. Blistex. I always have one or two in my bag and apply them regularly.

Mason Jar Maddness

I love love love love mason jars. Big, small, narrow, wide, any mason jar I can find a use for.
When we were younger we had mason jars as cups in Park City house, we eventually broke them all and got real jars. Then recently my parents bought a bunch for storage and I have found a million of lovely ideas and pictures on tumblr revolving around mason jars.

They are so hard to find at school, the only place I have found them is far from school and rarely has them in stock. But this weekend at home they had them at the grocery store and I was so excited! My dad thought I was crazy. I thought they looked a little odd and it turns out they weren't wide mouth. Im a little bummbed but they are mason jars, you cant go wrong.

Yesterday I put everything I could in my kitchen into mason jars, from coffee to granola to tea bags. It looks so much neater!
Also a while ago I organized a lot of things in my room into mason jars. They are all over, and I love it. I put ribbons and tags on them.
I want them at my wedding too.
You can NEVER have enough mason jars.

California Weekend

This weekend I went home and surprisingly it turned into one of the best weekends of the year (yes it is only the 5th week of the year.)

My wonderful schedule this semester allows me to go take "long weekends" whenever I want, assuming no exams!

On Thursday CLS and I went to the Lakers game. Yes, yes I know, he actually went!!
And he was an actual delight to be around. I on the other hand was a handful. In CLS's words I was "pounding tequila." I beg to differ, I had a little too much to drink and was apparently abusive but he never complained.
He dealt with my hot mess of a self, held my hand all night, yes even when I slept the entire ride home, and really made the whole night so much better just dealing with me.
He didn't even rub it in my face when the Lakers lost.

On Friday, once I mustered up enough energy to get out of bed, you know around 2, I went to Theory and bought some adorable sweater dresses, I mean I needed something to wear out that night. CLS actually agreed to go out with me even though he was tired. We went to PB to meet up with on of my friends from high school. As much as I wanted CLS to be there I should have let him stay home, he didn't have any fun and therefore I got frustrated. We ended up leaving early, getting in a disagreement and actually ended up having a productive talk.

Saturday I went to lunch with J and the to see No Strings Attached with CLS. I will buy that movie.

And on Sunday I really wanted to get eggs benedict from The Cottage but no, there was a 20 min wait and so we ended up at Pannikin.
I cant complain, I really do love the Greek eggs.

I love sunday breakfast with CLS, I am pretty sure we sat there for almost 2 hours talking, but talked about nothing.

I gave CLS a hard time about never saying nice things to me, which isnt true, he can be nice, and he told me 5 things. So maybe I didnt respond to him, but I have about a million nice things about him but heres ten:
1. He says he loves me Italian
2. He gives me his jacket when I am cold
3. He holds my hand, most of the time, even sometimes without me asking
4. He opens my door, even though I never say thank you, which I will start
5. He always argues with me, but always lets me win
6. He drives a stick
7. He listens to me, even though he will never admit it
8. He takes pictures with me
9. He does things with me
10. He can make me smile and laugh, I cant go very long being mad

Classes

I am currently "watching a video" for my online linguists class. And by watching it I mean browsing tumblr and facebook ohh and of course creating Polyvore outfits.

School has been such a joke. I have 3 real classes, and two online ones. And one of 3 real ones, I dont have to go to. This does not work for me. I need structure and a schedule. It also probably doesn't help that I spend more time at the gym and in the pool then I do at the library. But I actually am at the med lib right now for the first time all semester and of course I am not doing anything!

But come on, how am I suppose to concentrate on anything when san diego and the Lakers game with CLS is so close. This week is a joke. Wednesday please get here faster.
